Classes for Divorcing Parents
This class meets the Texas code 105.009 for divorcing parents. Couples with children getting a divorce in the state of Texas are required to take a parenting class.
Some of the topics covered are:
- The emotional effects of divorce on parents
- The emotional and behavioral reactions to divorce by young children and adolescents
- Parenting issues relating to the concerns and needs of children at different development stages
- Stress indicators in young children and adolescents
- Conflict management
- Family stabilization through development of a co-parenting relationship
- The financial responsibilities of parenting
- Family violence, spousal abuse, and child abuse and neglect
- The availability of community services and resources.
Classes meet each month on the last Tuesday of the month from 5pm to 9pm.
